Soapbox Sunday

Soapbox Sunday on a Monday...again. Sorry about that. I used my Dad's neat new camera and it took forever to load on YouTube. I just went to sleep and left it on haha.
Also another sorry that it is blurry. The camera man (ehem...Brandyn), didn't tell me that it was blurry and we all know we can't produce the same thing the same way twice so I had to leave it. I will do better next time, I promise!

Things I would tell my teenage self

Well I'm past the teenage years and in these couple years since being past them, I've definitely learned a lot. Here are a few things I wish I could have told my teenage self:

1. Allll the many boys that rejected you... they become losers so don't worry. They grow up to work in dead-end jobs and just smoke pot everyday and some of them ended up as teen Dads. Nobody cares that you didn't have a boyfriend during your teen year and it doesn't matter once you are older.

2. Actually focus on school and take all the classes possible including all the sciences because even though you've made high school pretty easy for yourself by only taking what you had to to graduate, you've limited yourself when you are out of high school and you can't become a vet tech without chemistry and biology.

3. You only stay friends with 3 or 4 people from high school. This is because half of them were not your real friends and the other half you don't have anything in common with anymore because they decided to float and do nothing with their lives and you are striving for your goal.

4. Don't tell everybody everything, It gets used against you.

5. Always trust your instincts. Those parties you don't really want to go to... something bad always happens at those ones and you have a miserable time. Just go have a sleepover with Shaylynn and Jolene. Those were always funner and had less humility and heartbreak and way more laughs.

6. You'll grow into your nose, and people will eventually stop obsessing over your boobs.

It's funny because I always hated that I never had a boyfriend and my friends used to say, "Watch, you are going to have a boyfriend at the end of high school and you will date him for a long time and you will get married."

That's exactly what happened :)

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you....

THIS!

Ha ha ha what a glare right?! That, if you don't know, is Maple Leaf's goalie's wife on the bottom and Phaneuf's girlfriend  Elisha Cuthbert on the top. The looks girls can give are hilarious. I love it.

At first the world thought they were glaring at each other, but they were just exchanging disgusted glances over the guy who made a rude comment beside them. Such haters

Go Leafs Go!

A Day In The Life....Part 2

Since our move, we've naturally had a huge lifestyle change. That being said, I decided to do a new post about what my typical day is like. This will of course change in a few weeks because my internship is almost over but for now, I think my days are pretty fun!

I get up around 10 to 5 am, get ready and then Brandyn drives me to the train station

The train is the first one out so it isn't busy at all. I get a whole row to myself :)

....and every single morning I have a nap on the train :)

The view as we are coming into Toronto

This is Union Station. My train gets in around 6:30 and then I have about a 15 minute walk to the station. Lately its been chilly in the morning and hot hot in the afternoon so I try to just wear a light jacket and then speed walk to warm up haha!

This is the building I work in. Pretty cool hey? For Canadians and Americans who know, this is attached to the Much Music building which was definitely pretty cool for me because I grew up watching it and now I'm working in the building.

And here is the view from my building

After I'm off, I walk back to the station but instead of taking the train, I take the bus because  the trains don't leave that way until 3:30 and I'm off way before that! Luckily there is a bus that leaves every 40 minutes so I don't have to worry about missing it. Here I'm standing in the line waiting to get on.

On my ride home.... I also fall asleep on the bus as well. Gives me my nap time! Plus I've always been a sleep in the car type person. I always fall asleep.

One of my favourite parts about the bus ride home is that we go through Old Brampton which has a lot of heritage homes and I just love it. They are never up for sale though unfortunately (although I'll never afford one lol). Here is one that I think is cute but don't be mistaken, there are many more impressive ones on the block.

When the bus gets in, I walk to the corner and wait for Brandyn to come.

When I get home I may or may not have a nap depending and I will just relax, go on the computer, or do some chores. So yea, that is my typical day. A couple days this week, I went out exploring the city. I'll post some pictures from that later!

Soapbox Sunday

It's back! After a little hiatus, I am back with another Soapbox Sunday video. I wasn't sure if I was going to continue this but then saw that it was quite popular so here is another one! This one is about people who constantly ask me what the weather is here and then compare it to their weather.

Also, I was playing around with the edits and I created something pretty funny so I put it on my Facebook page. You can follow me here. I post random tidbits from time to time that wouldn't make it into a blog post!

Throwback Thursday

My Grade 8 school picture (Sept 2005). I decided I wanted a change to surprise people (I still do this frequently) so I chopped my hair and colored it red. I don't think it looked that bad either.

Oh I'm so glad I lost that baby fat off my face.... lol

How To: Travel with Cats

As you know, we recently moved from Vancouver to Toronto which is about 4300 km. Our cats came with us on that move. Before I start, there is one thing I hate and that was when people would ask me what we were doing with our cats when we moved. We are bringing them. It never even crossed our mind to leave our pets behind, they are apart of our family and they are completely capable of coming with us.

That being said, I was very anxious about bringing them along especially because Gizmo is a very anxious cat himself. I read horror stories online (of course) and also just plain felt bad. We were moving over a period of 2 long days which is not great for the cats.

When travelling with cats and well, animals in general. You have to figure out what you want to transport them in. Are you going to bring them into the cabin or put them underneath? My suggestion is that if you can, bring them in the cabin with you. Make sure you check your airline restrictions on the carriers as well.

We did our research and it is not recommended to sedate your pets when going on an airplane in case of complications, but a Vet will guide you to go into any pet store and get this liquid that is supposed to calm them down. We tested it 2 days before to make sure there would be no allergy. We did use this the day of and I think it worked on Kitty but Gizmo was way too anxious to even care about any medication telling him to calm down lol.

Try to get them to drink some water and eat a little before and if they do, make sure they go to the bathroom. If they are too nervous to eat, drink or go to the washroom, don't worry. My cats hardly ate or drank anything. Don't worry about them going in their kennel. Animals usually don't soil their beds unless they are still young and don't have much control.

Warning: The airport makes you take your cat out of its carrier and carry it through security while your kennel goes through the machine. Wear long sleeves and maybe bring a harness and leash just in case. We didn't have one because I wasn't prepared for this. Gizmo also scratched my arm up good.

Put one or two toys in their carrier so they have something they know. My cats didn't notice them but it doesn't hurt.

When you reach your destination, your cats will probably be so giddy to get out of the carrier you will realize they are fine. The most exciting part for my cats was when their cat post came. It was something they recognized and it had their scent all over it. They immediately jumped on it so try to bring something that is theirs from home. It will make the transition easier.

In the end, everything worked out and it really wasn't that big of a deal. They lived!
