A Day In The Life....Part 2

Since our move, we've naturally had a huge lifestyle change. That being said, I decided to do a new post about what my typical day is like. This will of course change in a few weeks because my internship is almost over but for now, I think my days are pretty fun!

I get up around 10 to 5 am, get ready and then Brandyn drives me to the train station

The train is the first one out so it isn't busy at all. I get a whole row to myself :)

....and every single morning I have a nap on the train :)

This is Union Station. My train gets in around 6:30 and then I have about a 15 minute walk to the station. Lately its been chilly in the morning and hot hot in the afternoon so I try to just wear a light jacket and then speed walk to warm up haha! 

 

This is the building I work in. Pretty cool hey? For Canadians and Americans who know, this is attached to the Much Music building which was definitely pretty cool for me because I grew up watching it and now I'm working in the building.

After I'm off, I walk back to the station but instead of taking the train, I take the bus because  the trains don't leave that way until 3:30 and I'm off way before that! Luckily there is a bus that leaves every 40 minutes so I don't have to worry about missing it. Here I'm standing in the line waiting to get on.

On my ride home.... I also fall asleep on the bus as well. Gives me my nap time! Plus I've always been a sleep in the car type person. I always fall asleep. 

One of my favourite parts about the bus ride home is that we go through Old Brampton which has a lot of heritage homes and I just love it. They are never up for sale though unfortunately (although I'll never afford one lol). Here is one that I think is cute but don't be mistaken, there are many more impressive ones on the block. 

When the bus gets in, I walk to the corner and wait for Brandyn to come. 

 When I get home I may or may not have a nap depending and I will just relax, go on the computer, or do some chores. So yea, that is my typical day. A couple days this week, I went out exploring the city. I'll post some pictures from that later! 

Day in the life of Lauren

I always wanted to do one of these but every single week is different for me because of our rotating jobs and stuff. A couple weeks ago were the most consistent because I had the same job rotation for 2 weeks so I decided that would be a good snapshot of what goes on in my life... at least ... these past few weeks (ha!)

I get up at 4am and quickly get ready. Not much effort will ever be put in at that time. 

Gizmo also likes to keep me company while I do this 

(please excuse the pile on the floor. we have to cover the toilet paper bag because Gizmo tries to eat it!) 

Then I drive to Joanne's house to pick her up, we are co hosting these 2 weeks but I usually pick her up anyway on the way to school so I can take the HOV lane (express way for commuters!)

Off we go to. "West" to Vancouver

We go on air from 5:30 am to 10 am. Afterwards I'll go to a class for about 2 hours. If I have a class while I'm on air, I have to miss it and make it up on my own time.

Then, I head home which takes about a half hour or so. 

Gizmo is always there to greet me. = ) 

Then I start to tackle my to-do list. Yes, I put my TV shows on my list of things to do :P

Well... I try to do my to do list. I end up succumbing to my sleepyness and head to bed for a nap.

Gizmo comes too... 

Brandyn gets home a little bit after 4 and he showers and stuff and then wakes me up at 5ish which I am thankful for because I would probably sleep all night and as you can see from my to do list... I don't have that option. I get up, turn my shows on and start the catch up.

During my TV shows, I do my workout.... and Gizmo takes my seat and watches

Then I have to do my show prep for the next morning. 

Before I go to bed, I make my smoothie because it is really loud and not very nice to Brandyn or my landlords to be running a blender at 4 am! 

And I head to bed around 11 pm. 

Gizmo joins me again :)

So yea.. that is the basics of what I do. The radio station I work at, we rotate jobs every week so my schedule changes but I usually go to school, go home, do what I need to do and then my shift and school.

The past week has been really busy trying to get everything done before I took my trip to Toronto! I will be posting on that in a couple days.

Student Life

I have something embarrasssing to admit. Things are getting very interesting over here at my casa. This happened around this time last year as well... and this time about March too. It is the time when big projects are going down at school. 

Here we go...

Yes... there are no more bar stools.. just piles of jackets and yes... there are hats on the island... and grocery bags under it...  and boxes and frames with no pictures in it......

Some how Gizmo still finds room to jump up there.... 

 Christmas stuff getting ready to be put out... piles of papers, empty chip bags.....

The desk was organized a while ago though and has managed to stay that way... Hurricane Lauren doesn't use that area that much.... that is most likely why. 

Well, we attempted to put the laundry away... last week it ended up staying in the baskett and then the dirty clothes went on the floor... eventually making the switch when it was time to do laundry...

And my hair stuff at some point got moved into the bedroom because Brandyn was doing his business in the bathroom and I needed to get ready.... it ended up staying there.

So as we can see... things have got out of hand... and my attempts to clean don't last that long because I have way too much going on.. just like the end of every semester.

This week in particular is going to be a doozy. 

• I've got a major sales presentation Friday, that actually hasn't been started
• A 45 minute feature to produce (x3)... 
• And on Monday my group is presenting a documentary. 

Not to mention my regular classes. And no.. my semester isn't over after this week sadly. I have more shifts and classes to do after this week but most of them aren't as big of a deal as these. Well at least I hope no new projects will be sprung on us last minute... they did that last year. 

At least at the finish line.. end of this week, a sleepover with my best friend will be waiting for me. 

While I was taking these pictures, Gizmo was also murdering playing with his feather toy. 

He actually did rip one of the feathers off... little brat! 

Anyway yes, so please forgive me if I'm a little MIA for a bit.

Photo Dump

Ok so two weeks later.... I have my pictures from that weekend I talked about. In terms of wedding, I'm going to the Church this weekend to pick up the wedding package and booking the hall early next week :)

Lots of photos I know but that is your little inside of my life! This weekend I've got my brothers soccer tournament. Going to be laying out on a field in 28 degrees weather. Time to get some bronze goin on! I already look albino compared to the rest of my cousins. I guess that's what living in rain country does to you!

Upcoming Events

Just wanted to share some of the stuff coming up this month and yes some of it is wedding related.

This weekend is one of my best friends birthday and coincidentally my other best friend who recently moved to Alberta is coming to town for a little bit so I'm very excited :)

This is a picture of the there of us when we were 15. So tender.

Anywhoo... Basically Friday we are all going out to the bar to hang out and stuff, then Saturday is Shay's birthday (one on the right) so we are going for dinner and then to the bar after (no clubs in that town). Then on Sunday Jolene's (one on the right) sister is throwing a first birthday party for Jolene's daughter. She's actually 18 months or so now but since Jolene moved we never got to celebrate it so we are doing it this weekend. Really excited because I haven't seen the little one since she was like 9 months! She's walking and talking now it's going to be strange haha.

On another note, our lease is almost up in our apartment. When we got our apartment last year we had an incentive for signing a 1 year lease. Basically we got a certain amount taken off our rent every month. Well they lessened the incentive so our rent is going to be going up $100 if we resign so we started looking for another place. Well we found a place in the next city over. It's an all inclusive basement suite and it works out to be less than what we are paying in this place right now. Once we put our deposit down next week the place is ours :) We won't be moving in till July 1st though because thats when our lease here is up. 

I'm a little bit apprehensive about moving because I'm already like a half hour drive from all of my friends and now we're moving another half hour away from where we are now but it's also closer to my school so it will cut my commuting time down a bit which is a plus. Win and lose!

Packing for this move will be quite interesting because I'm going to Toronto from the 11th to the 25th! So when I get back we'll have 4 days! I am also very excited to go to Toronto because well I love it there :) A couple months ago I went for my cousin's bridal shower. Well now this is the actual wedding. I will be sure to post pictures because lets just say, it's going to be spectacular. While I'm there, I'm also going to be booking the hall and the chuch hopefully. Crossing fingers everything goes smoothly because I won't be back there until December! I've also been bugging my Dad about us going to a Blue Jays game. We used to go but past couple summers we haven't :(
