March Favourites

I took last week off from blogging because I was going through a bit of a slump. I was having trouble coming up with good content and I would rather just not write anything than write pointless stuff. That being said, I've come up with some new content ideas.

Along with my weekly recap, I will be adding a "Music Monday." I love music and finding great songs so I will be posting some of my favourite songs of that week.

I will also being doing a monthly pinterest challenge. I have 3000+ pins on Pinterest and I want to go through and actually try out some of those things, whether it be a craft, recipe, or outfit inspiration. I have basically finished my craft for this month so once I have it hung on the wall (ooo spoiler alert!), I will be posting all about it!

Now, for today's post. I have expanded my monthly favourites to include one thing from a bunch of categories. So, enough with the chatting and on to my March favourites.

This brush is my absolute favourite. My hair is unruly. I think I have said that before. It is thick, wavy and frizzy and it will tangle like crazy. I usually run conditioner through my hair twice to help it along but it is still a pain to get a comb through it after my shower. This makes it a breeze! I can't even believe how well it works. For those wondering where you can get it, Sally's Beauty Supply has them.

I previously said the Keihl's Ultra Facial Cleanser was a favourite but after a while, I realized it wasn't the right cleanser for me. I was still getting cystic acne and I'm pretty sure the reason for the rest of my face clearing up was because of my Clarisonic. I went to Sephora and talked to the skin expert and she reccomended this cleanser for me. I have never used a milk cleanser before so the texture was definitely different but I immediately started seeing results. I have not had any cystic acne since and the dark spots on my cheek from previous breakouts are finally starting to clear up. Needless to say, I think this is the one ;)

Bath & Body: Nothing this Month

I had a gunmetal, I had a rose gold, I needed a silver watch. I originally went into Fossil looking at a watch with a turquoise plate but the price here in Canada is more than it is listed than on the website and I had not budgeted for that. I ultimately decided on this one and I am glad I did. The blue color is more of a blue-grey in real life and I find it a lot more neutral. I wasn't 100% sold on the turquoise one and I feel that it would be harder to match with everything so I am definitely glad I chose this one and I really love it!

This brush is part of the Real Techniques eye starter set. It is a bit hard to find because it is a UK Based company but they do sell it at Walmart and Winners so just keep perusing there if you want to find it. This is basically a mini kabuki brush for eyes and it is so soft and dense and just really great for putting the shadow on. I actually use it to put it all over my lid as oppose to the accent.

And the Carrie Underwood nail polish saga continues. I'll have to admit, I have a few nail polish colors very similar to this one but I had to get it because it is Carrie Underwood. Simple as that. I just love this color and as I have said before, the line itself is a really great formula.

When I read the first two books, Mocking Jay hadn't even come out yet. Then the movies came out and I just had never gotten around to reading it. So when I watched Catching Fire in the theater - and the way they had the cliffhanger, I just had to pick up this one right away because I was not waiting a year to find out what happened! So I am currently reading this one and I haven't finished it yet (almost done though). It made my favourites by default because it is the only one I've read this month so far lol.

Movie: Divergent
I almost always read a book before going to see a movie - mostly because I had read the book before they even started making movie. I hadn't read this one though. The movie was realllly good. It definitely lived up to it's hype. I bought the box set because...even though it is really unconventional for me to do this, I am going to read the book after I watched the movie!

TV Show: The Good Wife
I have many many TV shows that I love. I have been catching up on this one on Netflix and it really is amazing. Keep in mind, I have a passion for law, but this show, I just love! You should definitely check it out.

Monthly Favourites

Garage Burnout Cuff Tee - Love this t-shirt. I have it in grey and white (which doesn't seem to be available anymore). It is so soft and comfortable and quite flattering although it doesn't look it in the picture. I would pick one up in every color if they came in all the colors!

Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Color Balm - I have this one in 03 Mightiest Maraschino Classic Red. I got it using my points at Sephora. It is the only shade of red or any bright color that I actually love and it well... moisturizes your lip as well. Oh and it doesn't end up on your teeth either ;)

Ponytail Holder Hat - Mine is actually from Lululemon but it doesn't seem to be available anymore which is weird because I got it like not even a month ago. Anyway, I found the one in the picture for you because regardless of where it is from, I think that all girls should have one of these!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder - This one has mixed reviews on the website. It is not a highlighter. What you do is swipe it over the areas that light most hits - so across your forehead, cheekbones and along your nose. When the light hits it, it creates this nice glow with a subtle shimmer. It is really pretty when you have it on although some people say they don't notice it. You won't notice it when applying it but you will in pictures and stuff so I guess it is up to your discretion if you want to spend the money on it.

Monthly Favourites

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo - Love this! It is like a lipstick but it is so creamy and smooth. It is a nude lipstick and it comes in many different shades so you know you will find one for your skin tone. I always had a problem finding a good nude shade because my lips are so pigmented that the true color would always just show through. This stuff is so great and it moisturizes your lips too.

Lush Retread Conditioner - Last month I had mentioned this other conditioner from Lush that I didn't love but it did smell amazing. I found that the one I was previously using wasn't thick enough for my hair so once it was finished, I went back into Lush and asked them what was good for thick hair. She gave me this one to try. It definitely has a thicker consistency and is great for detangling. The jury is still out on if I will stick with this one long term though.

Bath & Body Works My Favourite Lip Balm - I know this lip gloss is super popular. I used to use it but then stopped for some reason and I just started using it again and I actually love it more than the eos now. Granted, my hair does stick to my lips when its windy but it keeps my lips nice and moist as well so I am game for that!

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Foundation - I picked this one and loved it right away. You have to be careful when applying it because it tends to shoot out and you don't need a lot because it is really moussy so it spreads really nice. I apply it with my kabuki brush but you can also with a beauty blender. At first I was a little put off because when it first comes on it looks really caked on but after a little bit it makes your face look flawless and gets better and better throughout the day. That is the opposite of most foundation. I love it.

Monthly Favourites

For this month's edition of the favourites, I am actually going to turn it into more of a review. A certain product may not have been my favourite thing to use this month but I still want to make mention of it so I've decided to do it this way :)

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One - Step Facial Cleansing Cloths - Wow that is a mouthful! Basically its a cleansing wipe lol! They come in little packages like shown in the picture and ok.. when I heard this product was out I made a beeline to the store to get it. I wash my face twice a day and it can still get oily on those extra moist days. This is perfect because halfway through the day, I just take one out and wipe my face down and it feels fresh! I love it. Warning though: this is a cleanser and it will wipe your make up off if you are wearing any.

Lush American Cream Conditioner - I picked up this conditioner as I am sampling through all of the Lush products to see which works best for me. First I will say the positive: the smell is amaze-balls! I just wrap my hair around my face and smell it all day. Love it. Now they say on the website it is for all hair types and ... it does work but.. it doesn't detangle. I think if you have thinner hair, it is perfect for you but if you have thick, curly and tangly hair like me, not so good. I mean, I don't hate it so much that I discontinue using it but after I finish the bottle I will look for another one. Love the conditioner, just not for this hair type!

BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask - The name describes exactly what it is: fresh. They are fresh when you get them, you need to keep them in the fridge and they expire shortly after it is made. I do not mind that they expire at all because I got I think 6 uses out of it and used it before it even expired. I LOVE this mask. I want to keep it as a regular part of my routine. It is a good scrub that is also sensitive for the skin and I can't really describe it but it literally did wonders for my skin. I can't say enough good things about it. You literally have to see for yourself to really see what I am talking about!

Orly Nail Lacquer - Jealous Much? - I bought this in a duo package and I wasn't quite sold on this color but when I put it on I loved it. It actually comes out more of a blue then a green and it is just so pretty. I also love the Orly formula. The nail polish doesn't slip and slide all over the place like others that I have used and it goes on really opaque which is nice as well.

Monthly Favourites

I was originally going to post this on Friday but I was so busy and didn't make it home until late. Read the weekly recap Monday to find out what all went down this week. But anyway, here it is now!

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser: I bought this because I kept hearing so many good things about it. It sucked up all the oil on my skin but didn't dry it out. I highly recommend this cleanser. My face felt very clean after I used it.

Lush Tea Tree Water Toner: It is no secret that tea tree oil is amazing for you and helps get rid of pimples. I love this toner so much. I just spray it on after I use my cleanser and walk away. So easy yet so refreshing and it actually smells good (unlike straight tea tree oil).

Lush Ocean Salt Cleanser: You know when you hear those commercials that say you can see the results? This one you actually can. I use this every other day as an exfoliant. I can use it that much personally but if you feel irritated from using it that often then just do it every 3rd or 4th day. After I wash this off, my face actually looks brighter. I don't even know how it works but man, it is amaze-balls! I can't say enough good things about it.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray: I decided to try this out as another curl control type thing. For me this was a nice spray because it helped keep the frizz out and I didn't feel icky product in my hair. What it didn't do was keep it from being big but hey, I hear big curly hair is in now!

As you can see I have two Lush products on here. I am really impressed with this company. I knew about it before but I had never really looked into what they did as a company. If you haven't either, basically they use all natural products and try to get as many local as they can. There are no preservatives or harsh chemicals in it so the product does in fact expire but you will use it before it does. I love how they are always supporting charities and they do not test on animals. I try to be conscious about that when choosing my products. So far I am really happy with my products from them and you can look forward to seeing more of those products showing up on here.

Monthly Favourites

So I realized a couple weeks ago that I completely forgot the Monthly Favourites post last month... sorry! Here are my favourites for the month of July.

1. Rose Gold - The watch can be found here and the ring here. Rose gold is in right now. I adore it. I don't like gold at all but rose gold... Yes Please

2. Chain-Link Bracelets - Love these bracelets. I'm not a huge huge fan of jewelry but I love these. I have this specific one. It is so cute and what I like most is that the material is silicone so you don't feel that cold metal feeling.

3. Wide Toothed Comb - For those with thick hair, you need these for brushing through it while wet. I used to always use my brush because I had no patience to use a comb but it is way better for the hair and when I want to leave it curly, it preserves a bit of the curls as well. Never brush your hair wet with a brush!

4. Baseball T's - Otherwise known as Raglan Tees. I had to look far and wide for one of thse which is odd because now that I have one, I see them everywhere. But anyways, they are so comfy and the look it gives is very effortless but they are still flattering. If you don't have one, you need to get one. Period.

May Favourites

1.  Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller - Love this thing. I have really dark bags and it really makes a difference. It is well worth the money. I have medium skin and the light works fine on me.

2. Burberry Brit - This perfume is my go-to. It is fresh and can be used for both casual outings and formal settings.

3. Coach Legacy Leather Swingback - This is my first coach purse. When spending that much money I wanted it to be a universal color and wanted to make sure it was timeless. It is perfect for work or just a quick bag. It is just able to fit the essentials and keep the junk out. I also love that it doesnt have that C slapped all over the bag. I hate advertising for a store and not getting paid ;)

4. Lady Speed Stick 24/7 Anti-Antiperspirant Deodorant - I've been using this deodorant for years. I've had a few people say to me they don't like the gel because it gets their shirt wet.... just wait a minute or two before putting it on. I never have to worry about deodorant marks or anything.

March Favourites

1. Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer - LOVE LOVE this stuff. When I saw it in the store, I picked it up right away. I don't know how I didn't think of this first. Best invention ever. It goes on nice and light, fast and doesn't grease up your hands. I don't think I need to explain anymore!

2. EOS Organic Lip Balm - Well I ran out of my other stuff so I thought I would try this. I recommend this stuff too. It is a little bit weird to get used to put on but you don't notice after a while and I like twirling it on tables and clicking it open and closed :) The packaging is half the fun!

3. Nikon 1 J1 - I love this camera. I got it for Christmas from B and it is so simple and easy to use with great results. I am still learning how to use it and can't wait to get the best quality pictures out of it. If you don't want all the mumbo jumbo of a DSLR but still want the quality and results of one... this is the camera for you dude.

4. Bench Vest - After seeing some polyvore outfit collages with vests, I decided I wanted one. So I went on the hunt for a good vest and couldn't find anything affordable anywhere. I know you are thinking, Bench is not affordable but this vest was only 80 bucks. Comparable to a North Face one at 170. I really like it and the hood pops out of the collar!

February Favourites

1. Moroccanoil Curl Control Cream - I bought this stuff a couple years ago and I haven't had to replenish it at all yet so the money is well spent. Before this, I would use hairspray on my curls which of course made them all crunchy and gross but this stuff makes the curls look nice and not frizzy and not too poufy either. It usually looks even better the next day after it has been slept on and it makes your hair smell great!

2. Garage Parka Jacket - I bought this jacket this month and it has become my favourite jacket ever. It is so comfortable and has a nice big hood and huge pockets which is so nice (cause we all know women's clothes never get real pockets and if we do they are extremely small). Even though it is light, it is still warm and sweaters fit under it quite nicely anyway. What is funny is I texted my friend this jacket to tell her about it and she told me she already had it and loves it as well! For those who don't live in Canada there is a similar one here.

3. John Freida Frizz Ease Smooth Start Shampoo - Not really much to say. I love this shampoo, it smells great and my hair is really soft which is saying a lot considering I bleached it and colored it purple!

4. John Freida Frizz Ease Smooth Start Conditioner - Basically the same as I said above. I've always loved the John Freida products.

5. Schwarzkopf Osis+ Curl Me Soft Velvet Curl Cream - You are probably wondering why I have two curl creams. I bought this one a little bit after the other one. The thing with the moroccanoil one is it is a little heavy. This one is a little bit lighter but doesn't smell as great. I use both interchangeably. With this one I suggest using a diffuser to dry your hair a bit. It makes it a little more bouncy but you don't have to either.

January Favourites

1. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm - I heard really good things about this stuff so I decided to bite the bullet and try it. The major selling point is that it has spf 20 and it is so hard to find lip balm (for reasons beyond me) that have spf in it. What else can I say... it keeps my lips from being dry and my lips seem to be very picky with what kind of lip balm gets put on it!

2. Vaseline - Vaseline isn't just my January favourite, it is my all time favourite. I have been using this stuff for years, basically when I'm at home it replaces the regular lip balm. It is just amazing. If you have never thought of using it on your lips you need to try it!

3. Nicole by O.P.I Kardashian Kolor Nail Polish, It's All About the Glam - I was unsure of Nicole by O.P.I. because I thought, "This stuff is cheap so it must be cheap." I saw the color on Pinterest and decided to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. It lasted longer than Essie (which I am not a fan of) and although it didn't go on nice the first coat, I just did a couple more and it looked awesome. Really nice holiday color, it has a hint of sparkle in it. I think it is one of my favourite colors in my collection now.

4. Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Body Wash - Last summer I underwent some testing to see why my joints are always bothering me.... completely unrelated to my joints, I found out that I am allergic to soap. Everything in my life was explained. I always thought that my legs were really dry from shaving and that my skin was just dry and that is why it burned when I got out of the shower. Wrong. I just needed something that wasn't soap! This stuff is made with oatmeal and shea butter so it is perfect if you have a sensitivity to soap. My skin never burns anymore when I get out of the shower. I just love it.

So there you go. I plan to make this a regular thing every month :)
Hopefully I come across enough products to share with you every month!
